At Shpresa Programme, we believe in the power of community and the extraordinary impact of dedicated volunteers. Volunteering has always been in the core of Shpresa. We are incredibly proud to announce that three of our outstanding volunteers, Evis Suka, Besiana Hasa, and Bleranda Synaj – were nominated by Shpresa and they were recognised by Enfield Council for their dedication and contributions to the local community. Their commitment to supporting others has earned them *Special Recognition Awards*, a testament to their passion and service.
Evis Suka - A Lifetime of Dedication to Education & Empowerment
Evis has been a leader of the Albanian-speaking community for over 20 years, working with passion in leading the Edmonton group and running the Albanian classes for children – to preserve the Albanian language and culture while creating opportunities for children. Through her volunteer teaching and mentorship, Evis has helped countless children learn the Albanian language, the history of the motherland as well as build self-confidence and learn crucial life skills.
Her other initiatives, such as financial literacy programmes and drama workshops, have given young people essential tools to navigate life successfully. Beyond education, she has fostered intergenerational connections by supporting parents and children in developing stronger relationships through open discussions and workshops.
Evis’s work has left an indelible mark on the community, shaping future generations and ensuring that young people feel valued, empowered, and capable of achieving their dreams. Her recognition with a *Lifetime
Achievement Award* is a reflection of the countless lives she has touched and inspired.
Besiana Hasa - A Role Model for Women and Families
Every Saturday at The Ark Marsh House, Besiana dedicates her time to supporting women and families in Enfield. She plays a crucial role in creating a safe and welcoming environment, ensuring that every session at Shpresa’s women’s support group and supplementary school runs smoothly.
From setting up the venue to beautifully decorating event spaces, Besiana’s attention to detail makes every gathering special. Her skills in photography and video creation have also helped document the impact of volunteering, inspiring others to get involved. Besiana’s commitment extends beyond indoor activities. She actively encourages environmental responsibility, organising community clean-ups and educating others about the importance of preserving green spaces. Her dedication to uplifting others and fostering a sense of community has made her a true role model for women. This well-deserved *Special Recognition Award* honours her tireless efforts in strengthening and supporting those around her.
Bleranda Synaj: Championing Women's Voices and Well-Being
Bleranda is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. As a volunteer at Shpresa’s women’s support group and language classes. She helps women build confidence, develop new skills, and access vital information about mental health, domestic violence awareness, and life in the UK.
She plays a key role in organising guest speakers and cultural events, strengthening the bonds within the community. Her dedication to outdoor activities, such as walks in parks and planting flowers, not only promotes well- being but also encourages a greater connection with nature.
Bleranda’s warmth, leadership, and commitment have inspired many women to volunteer and become active members of the community. Her recognition with a *Special Recognition Award* is a celebration of her incredible impact and the positive changes she continues to bring to others’ lives.
